Minecraft’s NFT ban is disrupting emerging Web3 based game platforms, NFT Worlds said.

July 23, 2022

Mojang announced an outright ban on all integrations of blockchain technology and NFTs within Minecraft earlier this week.

This decision completely disrupted emerging Web3 based game platforms built on top of it, like NFT Worlds, the gaming company said in a statement.

Using Minecraft and its sprawling open-source ecosystem, NFT Worlds builds on the backbone of a decades worth of open source development within the Minecraft community.

As of now,  NFT Worlds consists of nearly 200 independent teams from projects building on our platform.

NFT Worlds supports custom Minecraft servers where players can purchase plots of virtual land and earn (and spend) cryptocurrencies.

Microsoft, Mojang and Minecraft have signaled they have no regard for creators, builders and players, the company said in its official release.

“Make no mistake, this is a web2 vs web3 battle,” NFT Worlds warned.
