In Search Of Lost Bitcoin: $184 Million Worth of BTC Laying Somewhere In Landfill

August 2, 2022

James Howells mistakenly threw away a hard drive in a landfill during a clearance 10 years ago.

The hard drive contains Bitcoins worth almost $184 million.

Howells is planning to spend millions excavating the landfill in a bid to find the lost hard drive.

If recovered James promises to give 10% of the proceeds to turn the city into a crypto-currency hub.

The Newport City Council, the owner of the landfill, is not excavating the site as it might pose an ecological risk.

But Howells believes now he has the funding and expertise to do the excavating in an effective and environmentally beneficial way for the site.

Though finding the hard drive is just part of the task there is no guarantee that it is even in a recoverable state if it is still in the landfill.
