Alleged Bitcoin launderer Alexander Vinnik’s lawyer is asking Moscow to include his client in prisoner exchange negotiations with the US government.

Vinnik was extradited to the US last month to face charges for laundering billions of dollars through his now defunct crypto exchange BTC-e.

The Russian citizen was sentenced to five years in prison by a court in France for his role in money laundering using his crypto exchange.

Vinnik was arrested in Greece at the request of the U.S. on suspicion of laundering $4 billion through BTC-e in July 2017.

Currently, the Biden administration is trying to secure the release of multiple Americans detained or imprisoned in Russia.

WNBA star Brittney Griner was sentenced to nine years in prison for carrying cannabis oil through a Moscow airport.

There has not been any official dialogue between Russia and US regarding swapping Alexander Vinnik with US prisoners in Russia.
