Metamask has informed the crypto community about a new rising scam called Address Poisoning.
In a twitter thread, Metamask has also provided necessary details about the scam.
As per the Metamask Twitter thread, the Address Poisoning involves scammers sending transactions of no value to your account from an address that's very similar to your own.
The scammer uses an address with the same first and last few characters as the real transaction the scammer sent.
After an individual send a normal transaction, the scammer sends a $0 token transaction, poisoning the transaction history, Metamask said in its Twitter thread.
Metamask also advised the users to develop a habit of thoroughly checking every single character of an address before any transaction.
An individual can protect himself by double-checking the full address or by using the Address Book feature, Metamask advised the users in Twitter thread.
