Ad spending on Twitter has dropped by 71% in December, Reuters reported citing data from an advertising research firm.

Ad spending on Twitter in November fell 55% from last year despite these traditionally higher ad spending months during the holiday season, the Standard Media Index (SMI) data claimed.

This comes after top advertisers slashed their spending on the social-media platform after Elon Musk's takeover.

According to the Pathmatics, 40 of the top 30 advertisers on Twitter stopped all advertising on the platform after Musk’s Twitter takeover.

Ad sales account for about 90% of Twitter's revenue.

Twitter's fourth-quarter revenue fell about 35% year over year due to a slump in advertising.

This dip also comes months after Elon Musk restored the suspended Twitter accounts and paid account verification policy.
