Ryder, the firm behind the Ryder One crypto hardware wallet, has officially won the Red Dot Product Design 2026 Award, one of the world’s most competitive and respected industrial design honors since 1955.

The prize places the young crypto wallet alongside past laureates, including Apple, Sony, Ferrari, Porsche, Honda, and Logitech.

A jury of more than 40 international design experts selected Ryder One for its fusion of aesthetic precision and functional security.

Design Clarity Meets Serious Security in Ryder One

The Red Dot Award has judged entries on innovation, functionality, formal quality, and ergonomics for over 70 years.

Ryder One earned recognition not just for aesthetic clarity but for how seamlessly its design serves the purpose of giving owners confident control over their crypto assets.

“We set out to build the most secure hardware wallet in the world. Winning the Red Dot is proof that we refused to treat design as an afterthought,” said Julien Nérée, CPO of Ryder, reacting to the win.

His team ran the device through 23 mechanical iterations before finalizing its anodized aluminum body, tempered glass touchscreen, and signature “Infinity Edge” LED band that lights up during every secure operation.

Coingape was told that the win reportedly makes Ryder One the first crypto hardware wallet to ever claim a Red Dot distinction.

Funding Surge Arrives Amid Fresh Wallet Security Scares

Beyond the design accolade, Ryder closed a $1.2 million funding round in October 2023 to launch the flagship with its TapSafe recovery feature, a system designed to replace traditional seed phrases.

Two years later, Ryder raised a $3.2 million seed round led by Tim Draper of Draper Associates.

Other backers in the round included venture firms Borderless, Semantic, Smape, and VeryEarly, as well as angel investors Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, and Joe McCann, CEO of hedge fund Asymmetric.

That capital arrived as self-custody risk kept compounding across the market.

Blockchain investigator ZachXBT recently flagged a fraudulent Ledger Live app on Apple’s App Store linked to a $9.5 million theft from over 50 victims between April 7 and 13.

A 2025 ACM study also found that only 43.4% of crypto users could correctly explain what a seed phrase is.

Ryder One is engineered around that exact gap, pairing an EAL6+ secure element chip whose keys cannot be extracted even with physical access with Shamir Secret Sharing that splits recovery data into fragments.

Even if a user loses their wallet, phone, cloud account, and all Recovery Tags, they can still restore access through a seed phrase or Recovery Contacts.
