OpenAI Launches Dual Product To Secure AI Dominance

Published by

Artificial Intelligence (AI) giant OpenAI has launched two new products in a quest to expand its influence in the industry. According to the company’s CEO, Sam Altman, the newly launched products are O1 and ChatGPT Pro. This product update comes at a time when the company is eying a transition to become a for-profit entity.

The Growing OpenAI Product Suite

As Altman revealed, the O1 product is a Large Language Model (LLM) that he claims is the fastest in the world. According to him, this new AI engine is also the fastest released to date. He said the new LLM has more embedded features including multimodality.

The second product is ChatGPT Pro, an advanced subscription service of its Chatbot that will cost $200 per month. To justifying the pricing, Sam Altman said ChatGPT Pro will offer unlimited usage and even-smarter mode for using o1. He noted that the OpenAI team will integrate more benefits in the near future.

The AI giant has continued to make the news for its product launches. As reported earlier by Coingape, the firm launched Operator, a task-automating AI tool last month. The company has managed to keep up pace with these successive product launches as it released Sora, its video-generating software earlier in the year.

While it claims each new product is advanced, some community members have flagged flaws in the O1 product that just launched changed. From conversations on X, users claimed the new model offers “weird answers” to user queries overall.

Beyond Product Launch, Legal Woes

Despite the growth OpenAI has recorded in recent times following its latest $1.5 billion capital raise from SoftBank, legal battle lurks.

Per an earlier Coingape update, Elon Musk filed a revised lawsuit against the artificial intelligence and Microsoft, intensifying the brawl between then. The tech billionaire accused the firms of monopolistic practices and anti-competitive collaboration in the generative AI sector. This suit precedes a more recent antitrust lawsuit Elon Musk also slammed the duo.

While this suit is ongoing, OpenAI still have competitors in the industry it need to contend with for market share. This include Elon Musk’s xAI firm.
