Ripple CEO Talks about Ushering in a New Era of Globalization

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse talks about company’s mission of the Internet of value and solving its customer’s problem. Meanwhile, its customer Banco Santander shares its experience of working with Ripple and utilizing its technology.

Brad Garlinghouse: The dawn of another era in globalization

Ripple’ Swell event has kicked off and its first day has also come to an end. However, things have just started to get interesting as Ripple announces the official launch of its xRapid product. Moreover, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse talks about Ripple’s mission of the Internet of Value:

“We can truly enable an Internet of Value. We can enable money to move in the same way goods and data. We can enable global commerce to accelerate, industries to grow and new segment of the population to be brought into the fold.”

Further talking about ushering in a new era of globalization, he states:

“It’s about the opportunity to be a builder — to partner with industry and enable something that hasn’t yet been seen: the dawn of another era in globalization.”

According to him, the friction in the global financial systems is holding us all back. He further noted, “it’s the segments of the population who are taxed the most by that $1.6 trillion who can least afford it.”

Ripple customers on the move

As for targeting the companies, Garlinghouse shared: “Too many companies have a peanut butter problem. They’ve spread themselves very thin, working on lots of different initiatives. By contrast, Ripple has gone deep in understanding how global payments problem can be addressed with blockchain technology and digital assets.”

He further talked about the growth of RippleNet and announcement of xRapid moving into production with partners, MercuryFX, Cuallix, and Catalyst Corporate Federal Credit Union:

“As of today, Ripple is now sending live payments using XRP for on-demand liquidity from U.S. to Mexico with Cuallix.”

Meanwhile, Ripple customer Banco Santander’s Head of Innovation, Ed Metzger shared its journey of how they “used the technology to improve our customers’ lives.”

By piloting Ripple technology, they have been able to deliver a new level of transparency, certainty, and speed through One Pay FX as

“It’s four or five clicks to do something that would have taken an awful, awful long time in the past.”

In the coming months, OnePay FX will be rolled out in more countries which is currently available in the UK and provides on-demand international payments for customers in Poland, Brazil, and Spain.
