Liverpool FC, one of the largest football clubs in England is taking big strides to include cryptocurrency and blockchain in its marketing operations. Recently, it had sent out an invitation to the Founder of Tron, Justin Sun, hinting at a partnership with the Tron Foundation. A similar invitation has now been sent to Binance CEO, Chanpang Zhao, as tweeted by him this morning.
Marcel Weigmann, Partnership Development Manager at Liverpool FC invited CZ “to discuss partnership opportunities with you in more details.” Weigmann said in the invitation that Liverpool FC is a “high profile marketing platform” that would bring considerable commercial benefits to the Exchange.
Liverpool FC is currently at the top of the table for the 2018-2019 season of one of the most watched football leagues in the world, the English Premier League (EPL). The invitations sent out to a Platform and an Exchange CEO might suggest that Liverpool is planning to release its own cryptocurrency on the Tron platforms with support from the largest Exchange in the world.
Moreover, Liverpool FC is not the first team a major Football league has entered the cryptocurrency space, earlier eToro, a trading platform provider had signed a partnership with seven clubs including Tottenham Hotspur, Brighton & Hove Albion F.C., Cardiff City F.C., Crystal Palace F.C., Leicester City F.C., Newcastle United F.C., and Southampton F.C.
The partnerships were aimed at improving the fan experience for purchasing merchandises, tickets and also include voting on important club issues. It also aims at providing seamless transferring of players in exchange for cryptocurrencies.
