Tesla Likely To Report a Huge Loss In Bitcoin Investment in Q2

July 18, 2022

Barclays analyst Brian Johnson expects Tesla’s bitcoin investment to go down by $460 million in Q2.

Bitcoin ended the second quarter at around $19,000, well below the $32,000 to $33,000 at which Tesla entered early 2021, according to the expert.

Elon Musk’s Tesla had around 42,902 bitcoins on its balance sheet.

Barcalys expects Tesla to beat Wall Street's expectations on Wednesday with quarterly earnings (EPS) to come in moderately above analyst consensus.

Bitcoin’s price peaked later last year when it reached nearly $70,000.

Tesla CEO announced last year to accept bitcoin as payment method but reversed its decision citing environmental reasons.

Tesla still accepts Dogecoin for its merchandise.
