Crypto exchange giant Crypto.Com transferred almost $10.5million to a Melbourne woman instead of $100.

It took seven months for the exchange to realize its mistake.

The crypto exchange has launched legal action against Thevamanogari Manivel and her sister Thilagavathy Gangadory to get back the money.

The error occured when the exchange attempted to give Ms Manivel a $100 refund in May 2021 but accidentally entered a much higher amount.

The $10.5 million mistake was discovered in a company audit just before last Christmas.

Ms Manivel has already spent $1.35 million on a luxury five-bedroom house and moved the rest of the amount into different accounts.

The court ordered Manivel to sell the house and pay $1.35 million back to Crypto.com.
