Breaking: Ukraine cancels airdrop to crypto donors

March 3, 2022

"Instead, we will announce NFTs to support Ukrainian Armed Forces soon. We DO NOT HAVE any plans to issue any fungible tokens,"  Ukraine's deputy prime minister says.

Deputy Prime Minister Mykhalio Fedorov tweeted: "Every day there are more and more people willing to help Ukraine to fight back the aggression. Instead, we will announce NFTs to support Ukrainian Armed Forces soon. We DO NOT HAVE any plans to issue any fungible tokens."

"This token is reported to have been used for misleading people into believing it was sent from a well-known address and may be spam."

Ukraine first declared yesterday that it planned to reward crypto donors with an airdrop. And the announcement led to transactions worth millions of dollars occurring in hours.

A number of people replying to Fedorov's tweet described his announcement as the

"best rug pull ever."
