ChatGPT's Has Crypto-Like Hacking Risks: Meta (Ex-Facebook)
May 04, 2023
Facebook owner Meta revealed that hackers have been using the artificial intelligence-powered tool ChatGPT to break into people’s devices.
Meta’s security team found hackers software offering ChatGPT-based tools containing malware on browser extensions and online app stores.
Guy Rosen, Meta’s chief information security officer, equated this phenomenon to the surge in cryptocurrency scams.
The interest in ChatGPT has made it an easy target for scammers to exploit.
More than 1,000 malicious web addresses linked to ChatGPT or related tools have been blocked by Meta since March alone.
Some of the tools offer working ChatGPT features but also contain malicious code to infect users’ devices.
Meta has investigated and taken action against such malware strains and has warned people to be cautious when downloading any such software.
