Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance’s study reveals China is still among the world’s largest bitcoin mining hubs.

China accounted for about 20% of bitcoin’s total hash rate from last September to January.

After China completely banned cryptocurrency mining last year, the US became the global leader for Bitcoin mining.

China still hosts 21% of the total Bitcoin hash rate in spite of the complete ban last year.

The unregulated underground bitcoin mining has been responsible for China’s re-emergence as one of the largest bitcoin mining hubs.

For comparison, China accounted for nearly 75% of BTC hash rate in 2019.

Since China has outlawed cryptocurrency mining, other countries have taken the opportunity to embrace bitcoin mining.
