Self proclaimed bitcoin creator Craig Wright told a Norwegian court that he destroyed the hard drive that could have proved he was Nakamoto cryptographically.
According to reports, Craig Wright claimed that the hard drive contained “key slices” that would have granted him access to Satoshi Nakamoto’s private keys.
The legal battle in Norway focuses on Craig proving he is the real creator of bitcoin.
Wright defended himself saying, “I didn’t want to encourage the arguments that you need keys. Yes, you could say this is a risk, but I think it’s the most important thing I’ve done in my life.”
Wright had claimed that he destroyed his only proof of cryptographically proving he is Satoshi shortly after attempting suicide in May 2016.
On destroying the hard drive, Craig Wright said, “Yes, you could say this is a risk, but I think it’s the most important thing I’ve done in my life.”
Wright claims that he is focusing on proving his identity without the keys, because otherwise it would give his critics an “easy way out'', according to him.
