‘Crypto is dead in America,’ says longtime Bitcoin bull Chamath Palihapitiya
April 25, 2023
Tech investor Chamath Palihapitiya recently said that Crypto is dead in America in the latest episode of the All-In podcast.
Palihapitiya blamed crypto’s demise largely on regulators like the SEC, who have gotten much more rogue in their venture of regulating this industry.
“The United States authorities have firmly pointed their guns at crypto,” he said.
Palihapitiya said it as a reaction to Gary Gensler’s statement connecting the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank with the crypto industry.
SEC has been openly challenging firms and projects that the regulator alleges were selling unregistered securities.
In early 2021, Palihapitiya predicted on CNBC that Bitcoin would rise from $39,000 at the time to as high as $200,000.
Later in 2021, just before the peak, he said Bitcoin had “effectively replaced gold,” but at the moment he seems much more conscious.
