Elon Musk tweeted in favor of paid social media accounts this morning citing the potential of modern AI which can transgress any check-ins.
He adds- "Paid verification increases bot cost by ~10,000% & makes it much easier to identify bots by phone & CC clustering."
He finds it trivial to spin up 100k human-like bots for less than a penny per account as modern AI can solve any “prove you’re not a robot” tests.
Musk believes that paid account social media will be the only social media that matters.
He tweeted the new price on March 24 to get a blue verification badge as $7/month.
Roberto Nickson supported Musk saying AI-Bots are getting better and better at appearing to be an actual human-ran account and paid social isn’t ideal but may be the only answer.
Apart from support from Progressive Twitterati, some users condemned the idea saying- "So pay to be heard?" and "The advantages of paying and the benefits of being followed by the paid are small."
