Elon Musk's Surprising Move: Pays for Twitter Blue of These Public Figures

April 21, 2023

Earlier,  LeBron James, Stephen King, refused to pay for Twitter's blue check verification.

Elon Musk has now announced he will personally pay for subscription bills to Twitter Blue for these public figures.

Twitter removed unpaid 'legacy' blue checks, requiring current verified users to pay for Twitter Blue.

Stephen King confirmed he hasn't subscribed to Twitter Blue or verified his account with a phone number.

Musk responded to King's tweet, implying he has paid for his verification.

Out of the 50 most-followed accounts on Twitter, only seven users, including Rihanna and Taylor Swift, are currently verified.

Twitter has downsized from 7,500 employees in December to 2,000.
