Twitter Accused Of Being Blind To Terrorism

Story: Divya Sinha

As per the reports, Twitter has been accused of turning a blind eye to the ISIS organization.

The nine justices in US Supreme court heard complaints that Twitter should be held accountable for "aiding and abetting" terrorism.

This was because it failed to remove content produced by extremist groups.

Reports suggest that Judges had a difficult time deciding whether social media platforms could be held accountable for acts of terror.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor states that there is an allegation of willful blindness here as it knew that ISIS was using the platform.

The case was brought by the family of one of the victims of a 2017 attack by the group on an Istanbul nightclub.

The family claims that Twitter's inability to remove tweets from ISIS constituted aiding an act of terror. Decisions in this matter will be made by June 30.
