Google Plans To Add Chat AI To Its Search Engine, Sundar Pichai Confirms

April 06, 2023

In an interview with Wall Street Journal, Google CEO Sundar Pichai expressed certainty that Google search engine will include Chat AI in the future.

Pichai completely dismissed the notion that AI chatbots posed a threat to Google’s search business.

“Will people be able to ask questions to Google and engage with LLMs in the context of search? Absolutely,” Google CEO said in the interview.

LLMs, or Large Language Models, can process and respond to natural-language prompts with humanlike prose.

Google has been developing LLMs for a long time but it has not integrated in any capacity to its search engine.

With ChatGPT-like services emerging exponentially, Google is under pressure to maintain its online dominance.

Earlier, Google announced that it would lay off 12,000 employees, nearly 6% of its staff.
