So far in 2023, 3 major US banks have collapsed.

On May 1, First Republic joined Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank as its assets were sold to JPMorgan.

A report posted on the Social Science Research Network found that 186 banks in the United States are at risk of failure or collapse due to rising interest rates.

A very high proportion of uninsured deposits in these 186 banks is also a major risk that could drown them.

Even if half of the uninsured depositors quickly withdrew their funds from these 186 banks, even insured depositors may face impairments.

Credit agencies cut SVB's credit ratings. In 2012, there were 651 problem banks, which decreased to 467 in 2013, 291 in 2014, and 183 in 2015. The number at the end of 2022 was 39, but it will be much higher this year.

Comerica shares dropped 37% after Silicon Valley Bank failed, but have remained steady since.
