Israel Tests Blockchain-Based Digital Bonds

Israel Finance Ministry has been Preparing for live testing of its tokenized digital bonds.

Israel Finance Ministry  alongwith the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE) will conduct the testing of a blockchain-backed platform for digital bonds.

For this project, the Israeli government and TASE are partnering with digital asset infrastructure firms Fireblocks and VMWare to perform live testing.

The pilot project is expected to be completed by the end of Q1 2023.

The project aims to streamline processes, reduce costs and shorten the duration of issuance and clearing of state bonds.

In 2018, the World Bank alongwith the Commonwealth Bank of Australia had raised $110 million for two-year blockchain bonds

In 2021, the European Investment Bank followed the path by issuing 100 million euros in digital bonds.
