Meta is reportedly planning to introduce “Zuck Bucks.”

April 7, 2022

According to the Financial Times report, instead of a cryptocurrency, the social media giant is planning to introduce in-app tokens.

“Zuck Bucks,” as the employees are calling the virtual currency, will be centrally controlled by Meta.

Earlier, Meta founder Mark Zuckerberg announced plans to integrate NFTs on Instagram.

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is also exploring “social tokens” or “reputation tokens,” which would be issued as rewards for contributions in Facebook groups.

Mark Zuckerberg also spoke about the importance of e-commerce and financial tools to his vision for the Metaverse.

Earlier, Meta abandoned its effort to create a global digital currency dubbed as Diem following a fierce backlash from regulators all around the world.

It would be interesting to see if “Zuck Bucks” would meet the similar fate as Diem, or would it be a success for the social media giant.
