OpenAI CEO Sam Altman confirmed that the company is not currently training GPT-5.
There have been rumors going around about how GPT-5 might look after GPT-4 launch last month.
Speaking at an event at MIT, Sam Altman also addressed the open letter signed by Elon Musk and other experts seeking to pause AI development.
Altman said the letter was “missing most technical nuance about where we need the pause.”
Sam further noted that an earlier version claimed that OpenAI is currently training GPT-5. “We are not and won’t for some time,” Altman added.
“We are doing other things on top of GPT-4 that I think have all sorts of safety issues that are important to address and were totally left out of the letter,” he said.
The development of AI has been a topic of debate since the emergence of ChatGPT as some claim dangers of this technology can be very severe.
