Digital asset data analytics firm Inca Digital will study the national security implications of digital assets under a one-year contract with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
Inca Digital is working on a project called “Mapping the Impact of Digital Financial Assets”.
It aims to create a “Cryptocurrency Ecosystem Mapping Tool” to provide information to the US government and commercial enterprises.
In addition to investigating potential money laundering and sanctions evasion, the project will also explore the interactions between traditional and digital financial systems.
DARPA has been examining blockchain technology for several years, both in terms of its security implications and as a potential tool for its own purposes.
In June, they partnered with Trail of Bits to analyze the degree of blockchain decentralization and identify its vulnerabilities.
Specifically, the agency’s collaboration with Inca Digital will be a Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract.
