The documents in contention concern a speech Hinman delivered at a summit in 2018, where he stated Bitcoin and Ethereum are not securities.
Attorney James Filan informed that Judge Analisa Torres has overruled the SEC’s objection over the court orders.
By ordering the SEC to produce Hinman’s documents, the judge hands Ripple and two executives a decisive victory and moves one step closer to resolving the nearly two-year legal battle.
More importantly, the findings are of interest to the industry as they relate to the SEC's future characterization of cryptocurrencies.
