UFC announces to pay fighters bitcoin bonuses based on fan votes.

April 7, 2022

The American mixed martial arts company will give out bonuses to its athletes in bitcoin starting this weekend

UFC had signed a 10-year, $175 million deal with Crypto.com last year in July. The bitcoin bonus is part of the deal.

Fans will vote for their favorite fighter of the card online and three athletes will get bonuses in bitcoin.

The first place athlete will get $30,000, second place $20,000, and the third will get $10,000, all paid out in bitcoin.

Fans will get three votes per card and will be able to vote on Crypto.com’s website on each fight weekend.

Earlier, the 8th ranked UFC flyweight fighter Matheus Nicolau signed a deal to receive his future fight earnings in bitcoin through the payroll service, Bitwage.

As part of the partnership between UFC and Crypto.com, athletes also receive 50% of all the NFT sales.
