WhatsApp, Signal and other encrypted messaging services have urged the British government to rethink the Online Safety Bill.

The Online Safety Bill could undermine end-to-end encryption, according to the messaging giants.

Whatsapp earlier warned they would sooner see British users stopped from using their services than risk compromising their privacy.

Lawmakers want messaging companies to remove child abuse images with this new online safety bill.

This is not something new, several governments around the world have passed mass surveillance laws to protect child abuse on the internet.

Element's chief executive Matthew Hodgson said: "The UK wants its own special access into end-to-end encrypted systems.
