On August 21, Binance Labs, the venture capital and incubation arm of Binance, announced its investment in Delphinus Lab, a pioneering infrastructure provider in the zkWASM space. The move is set to usher in a new era of Web3 applications, bringing greater security, privacy, and flexibility for developers and end users alike.
Delphinus Lab has built and implemented the first open-source zkWASM virtual machine, a technology that combines zero-knowledge (ZK) cryptography with WebAssembly (WASM) environments. WASM, a virtual machine collaboratively developed by tech giants Google, Mozilla, Microsoft, and Apple in 2017, allows code to run natively on browsers with popular programming languages developers use worldwide.
By integrating ZK-proof technology with WASM, Delphinus Lab is enhancing the security and privacy of applications, contributing to a more trustless and decentralized digital ecosystem.
“With our zkWASM Hub, we are introducing a streamlined multi-chain execution layer for developers to easily deploy and manage their WASM-backed apps in a dynamic rollup environment. We aim to enable next-generation Web3 DApps that leverage the robustness of Web2 while embracing the decentralized, trustless nature of Web3,” said Sinka Gao, Founder and CEO of Delphinus Lab.
The funds invested by Binance Labs will support the ongoing development of Delphinus Lab’s zkWASM-based application rollup platform, zkWASM Hub, which offers automated proving and batching services for application workloads with customizable WASM extensions. Additionally, the platform allows developers to distribute their GitHub applications onto zkWASM Hub through its auto-compilation and updating service.
Yi He, Co-Founder of Binance and Head of Binance Labs, expressed their commitment to supporting projects that build critical infrastructure for the growth of Web3 applications.
“Delphinus Lab’s zkWASM implementation will welcome a new wave of Web2 developers onto the Web3 landscape. We are excited to witness Delphinus Lab lead the zkWASM narrative and enable widespread adoption of Web3 applications among developers and end users,” He said.
This strategic partnership between Binance Labs and Delphinus Lab highlights the increasing importance of zkWASM technology for future Web3 applications. Integrating ZK-proof technology with WASM’s versatility and accessibility opens up new possibilities for developers and end-users, paving the way for a more secure, private, and decentralized digital world.
