BitGo Opens New Singapore Office, MD Angela Ang Reveals 3x Growth in APAC Client Base

Key Highlights

  • BitGo has opened a new office in Singapore, strengthening the city-state’s role as its APAC regional hub.
  • BitGo’s APAC client base has tripled since the company received its Major Payment Institution license from Singapore’s MAS in August 2024.
  • Singapore headcount has more than doubled over the past two years as BitGo expands its regional operations.

In a major milestone, the digital asset infrastructure company BitGo has announced a remarkable physical expansion. It has opened a new office in Singapore as the company expands its business and products across Asia Pacific.

The new office strengthens Singapore’s role as BitGo’s regional hub. It also comes as the company reports strong growth in its APAC business under Angela Ang, Managing Director for APAC and President of BitGo Singapore.

BitGo appointed Angela Managing Director of APAC and President of BitGo Singapore in June 2026. Before joining BitGo, she was Head of APAC Public Policy and Strategic Partnerships at blockchain intelligence firm TRM Labs. Before that, she spent more than a decade at MAS.

Her background is particularly relevant to BitGo’s Singapore strategy. At MAS, Ang leads the team that helped build and operationalize Singapore’s payments and crypto licensing regime.

Bitgo’s APAC Clients Grown 3x : MD Angela Ang

BitGo MD Angela Ang said on new office announcement that its APAC client base has tripled since its Singapore subsidiary received a Major Payment Institution (MPI) license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) in August 2024. Its Singapore headcount has also more than doubled over the same period.

“Two years ago, BitGo Singapore received its MPI license from MAS, and since then, we have built a real home for BitGo in the region,” Ang said in a Linkedin post.

She added that institutions across APAC are trusting BitGo with more of their business as digital asset adoption grows.

Interestingly, BitGo’s presence in APAC is not new as it has been building in Singapore since 2015. It has operated in the region since 2015, working with institutions and digital asset businesses across Asia. Singapore became a bigger focus after BitGo secured its MPI license from MAS in August 2024.

The license allows BitGo Singapore to provide regulated digital payment token services. The company launched its expanded Singapore offering in November 2024, covering digital asset custody, trading, settlement and token management.

The growth is also visible in BitGo’s institutional trading business. Singapore is now home to the largest trading desk within BitGo Prime, the company’s institutional trading and financing business.

BitGo Prime connects clients to global liquidity through exchanges, market makers and other liquidity providers. It also connects trading with BitGo’s custody infrastructure.

Trading volumes at the Singapore desk have also more than doubled in the first half of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025.

Part of Global Expansion

The new office is also expected to support further expansion.

BitGo said it plans to continue hiring in Singapore across client coverage and business operations roles. The company wants the local team to support growing demand for regulated digital asset infrastructure across APAC. The APAC expansion comes as its subsidiary BitGo Korea won direct VASP License in South Korea.

The expansion comes as BitGo is moving beyond its traditional identity as a crypto custody provider and building a broader institutional digital asset platform.

Last month, the company completed its acquisition of NYDIG’s institutional trading business. With that, it has added derivatives, structured products, financing and capital markets capabilities to its existing custody, trading, settlement and wallet infrastructure. Around 30 NYDIG employees also joined BitGo as part of the deal.
