  • OSL offers custody, spot trading, fiat on/off ramps and crypto transfers to banks, fintechs, asset managers and enterprise clients.
  • Around 280 crypto firms have secured MiCA authorization, while hundreds of others remain unlicensed.

OSL:- As Europe’s crypto market enters the MiCA era, licensed infrastructure providers are beginning to move beyond regulatory approvals and into commercial deployment.

OSL EU is among the latest firms to do so, announcing that its Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) authorization is now fully operational. This will allow the leading stablecoin payments and trading infra platform to offer regulated crypto services across all 30 countries in the European Economic Area (EEA).

The launch marks OSL’s shift from obtaining a MiCA license on July 9 to using it as the foundation forpan-European digital asset business.

What OSL Can Offer Under MiCA

Under MiCA, crypto-asset service providers authorized in one EEA member state can passport their services across the region without obtaining separate licenses in every country.

Having received its MiCA authorization from Austria’s Financial Market Authority (FMA), OSL can now operate across the entire EEA through a single regulatory framework.

The company said this removes much of the complexity businesses previously faced when expanding crypto operations across Europe under different national rules.

With its MiCA authorization now fully operational, OSL EU is authorized to provide a range of institutional crypto services. It will enbale institutional and enterprise clients to access a suite of services. This includes crypto custody, spot trading, fiat on- and off-ramps. It allow enables crypto-to-crypto conversions and digital asset transfers through a single regulatory framework.

Together, these services allow institutions to access trading, custody and payment infrastructure from a single regulated provider.

This comes as Peter Kerstens, European Commission Advisor and one of MiCA’s architects, said in a Block of Fame conversation that MiCA is just the beginning.

MiCA Transition Ends

OSL’s expansion comes just weeks after MiCA’s transitional period officially ended on July 1, requiring all crypto-asset service providers serving EU clients to operate under a MiCA authorization or cease offering services in the bloc. Just on July, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) issued warning and directed unauthorized firms to wind down their operations in an orderly manner. It asked firms to stop onboarding new EU customers and protect client assets during the transition.

The deadline came in as many crypto firms are still outside MiCA.

Thus, as Europe enters the next phase of MiCA implementation, regulated infrastructure providers such as OSL are expected to play a bigger role in helping institutions access compliant digital asset services across the region.
