Exclusive Interview with Serena Leung

Popular cryptocurrency exchange Toobit is no stranger to introducing new crypto-based competitions, to bring vigor into the act of trading assets. This time around, it has embraced a racing theme, creating Toobit TIFT 2026, an event featuring a prize pool of 3,000,000 USDT.

A near month-long competition, Toobit TIFT 2026 features multiple events, comprising both solo and team-based tournaments. There is a leaderboard, there are large prizes, and there are also unique content creation perks to bring more hype to the project while rewarding users.

But how does the gamification of trading help bring crypto to the masses? And why the race-style experience?

In this interview, we sit down with Serena Leung, Head of Global Business Development,Toobit  asking these questions and many more so that you have a clear picture of what the event is about.

Q1
TIFT 2026 has adopted a strong racing theme. What inspired Toobit to turn a futures trading competition into a race-style experience?
coingape

The racing theme felt like a natural fit because there are a lot of parallels between racing and futures trading. Both are fast-moving, competitive, and reward preparation, timing, discipline, and the ability to react when conditions change.

But importantly, neither is just about going faster. In racing, pushing harder without control is usually how you lose the race. Trading is similar. Knowing when to accelerate, when to hold back, and how to manage risk matters just as much as speed.

With TIFT 2026, we wanted to turn those ideas into an experience that feels more engaging than a traditional leaderboard. The team and solo formats, the progression through different stages, and the constant movement in the rankings all lend themselves naturally to a race. It gives the tournament a stronger identity while still reflecting what makes trading competitive in the first place.

Q2
What is the core idea behind TIFT 2026, and what makes this edition different from previous Toobit trading competitions?
coingape

TIFT is our annual flagship trading competition, but the idea goes beyond simply ranking traders by performance. We want it to be a moment that brings the Toobit community together around a shared challenge, with different ways for participants to compete, contribute, and follow the action.

Each edition gives that competition its own identity. Last year, we explored a climbing theme in collaboration with world-renowned rock climber Chris Sharma, our brand ambassador, using ideas such as preparation, calculated risk, and endurance to frame the trading experience. More than 100,000 traders took part, which showed us how much a strong narrative can add to a tournament of this scale.

For 2026, we wanted to build on that concept rather than repeat it. The shift from climbing to racing reflects the faster pace and constant movement of futures trading, while the team and solo championships create both a community dimension and an individual competitive track. The result is a tournament that feels more dynamic, more social, and more like an event the community can experience together rather than just another leaderboard.

Q3
The tournament has a $3 million USDT prize pool spread across multiple events. How did Toobit decide how to allocate the rewards across solo, team, and other competitions?
coingape

We designed the 3 million USDT prize pool around the idea that there should be more than one way to compete and win. Not every trader approaches a tournament in the same way, so we wanted the reward structure to recognize different kinds of achievement.

The solo championship rewards individual performance, while the team championship introduces a collective dimension, where traders contribute toward a shared result. Beyond those headline competitions, we also allocated rewards to early bird incentives and other tournament challenges.

The aim was to avoid concentrating the entire prize pool in a single ranking. High-performing traders still have meaningful rewards to chase, while the broader tournament structure gives more of the community a reason to stay involved from start to finish.

Q4
TIFT 2026 combines trading performance with gamified elements such as Fuel, Nitro, and Octane. What role does gamification play in encouraging participation and sustained engagement?
coingape

Gamification helps turn TIFT from a static leaderboard into an experience that participants can actively progress through. Elements such as Fuel, Nitro, and Octane give traders additional milestones to work toward and make it easier to see how individual actions contribute to their overall tournament journey.

The idea is not simply to encourage more trading, but to create more touchpoints throughout the competition. A leaderboard can feel distant if you are not near the top, whereas progression mechanics give participants reasons to stay involved, complete different challenges, and follow how the tournament is developing.

They also help bring the racing theme to life. Fuel, Nitro, and Octane are intuitive concepts within that world, connecting the tournament mechanics with its broader identity. Good gamification should make progress easier to understand and more rewarding to follow without distracting from disciplined trading and risk management.

Q5
The team championship calculates the average P&L% across 10 members. Why did Toobit choose this structure instead of simply ranking teams by their highest-performing traders?
coingape

We wanted the team championship to reward collective performance rather than allow one exceptional trader to carry an entire team. Using the average P&L% across 10 members puts more emphasis on consistency and depth, so a team needs multiple traders performing well to remain competitive.

That structure makes collective performance matter. If rankings were determined primarily by the highest-performing trader, the experience could quickly become an individual competition with a team name attached to it.

It also keeps the competition more open. A strong team is not necessarily the one with a single breakout result, but one that can produce solid performance across several participants. We felt that was a better reflection of what a team championship should reward.

Q6
Futures trading can be challenging for less experienced traders. What has Toobit done to make TIFT 2026 accessible without compromising its competitive nature?
coingape

Accessibility for us does not mean making futures trading easier or downplaying the risks involved. It means making the tournament itself easier to understand and participate in.

TIFT 2026 has several entry points, from early bird activities and progression mechanics to the team and solo championships. We have also kept the rules, reward criteria, and performance measures clear so participants can quickly understand how the tournament works.

The competition itself remains performance-driven. Results still matter, and futures trading still requires discipline and risk management. That balance is important to us: make the event straightforward to enter and follow without lowering the standards required to compete well.

Q7
TIFT 2026 offers physical rewards alongside tokens, vouchers, and other digital prizes. Why was it important for Toobit to include physical rewards?
coingape

Physical rewards give the tournament a more tangible dimension. Trading competitions naturally live online, so we liked the idea of giving participants something they can keep or use after the event.

They also help make TIFT feel more like an event rather than simply a prize pool distributed at the end. Digital rewards such as tokens and vouchers have obvious utility, while physical prizes can serve as a more memorable reminder of taking part.

It really comes down to variety. Different rewards appeal to different participants, and combining digital and physical prizes gives the tournament more personality without taking away from its competitive focus.

Q8
How does Toobit ensure that a competition based on trading volume and P&L remains fair for participants with different levels of capital and trading experience?
coingape

Fairness does not mean every participant enters with the same capital or experience, so our focus was on designing the competition so that account size alone does not determine every outcome.

That is one reason P&L% plays an important role in the team championship. Because it measures returns relative to a trader’s capital rather than absolute profit, a smaller account can still demonstrate strong performance. The team ranking also looks at the performance of multiple eligible members rather than allowing a single large trader to determine the result.

TIFT also uses more than one competitive metric. The solo championship emphasizes trading volume, while other activities recognize task completion and progression throughout the tournament. We also set minimum eligibility requirements and exclude practices such as wash trading, self-trading, and multi-account manipulation to protect the integrity of the rankings.

We are not trying to eliminate differences in experience, capital, or trading style. Those differences are part of any trading tournament. What matters is that no single metric or type of trader determines every outcome.

Q9
TIFT 2026 focuses exclusively on futures trading. Did Toobit consider including a spot trading competition, particularly for participants who are not comfortable with futures?
coingape

TIFT has always been designed first and foremost as our flagship futures trading competition, so for 2026 we chose to preserve that focus rather than expand the tournament simply for the sake of adding more categories.

There is a competitive reason for that. Keeping the tournament centered on futures gives us a consistent framework for comparing performance, structuring the team and solo championships, and designing mechanics around the same trading environment. It also gives TIFT a clearer identity.

We recognize that futures are not suitable for every trader, particularly those who are less experienced with leveraged products. TIFT is not something every Toobit trader needs to participate in. Spot remains an important part of the broader Toobit offering, while TIFT is intentionally built for participants who understand futures and are comfortable with the risks involved.

Keeping that distinction clear preserves the character of the tournament without suggesting that traders need to move into futures simply to take part in a campaign.

Q10
What kind of trader does Toobit expect to benefit most from TIFT 2026: experienced futures traders, competitive traders, or newcomers interested in exploring derivatives?
coingape

TIFT 2026 will naturally appeal most to experienced futures traders and people who enjoy a competitive trading environment. They are already familiar with concepts such as leverage, position management, and risk control, so they can focus more directly on strategy and performance within the tournament.

That does not mean every participant needs to be chasing first place. The team format, tournament activities, and different milestones allow traders to set different objectives and engage at a level that makes sense for them.

For newcomers interested in derivatives, we would encourage a measured approach. TIFT can be a way to observe how a large-scale futures competition works and become more familiar with the format, but competition should never replace learning the fundamentals first. Futures involve risk, and participating responsibly matters more than chasing a ranking.

At its core, TIFT is for traders who enjoy testing themselves, whether that means competing for a top position, contributing to a team, or seeing how their strategy performs under competitive conditions.

Q11
What metrics will Toobit use to determine whether TIFT 2026 has been successful once the tournament concludes?
coingape

We will look at TIFT 2026 across several dimensions rather than judge it on a single headline number.

Participation is an obvious place to start: registrations, active traders, team activity, and involvement across the different tournament events. We will also look at trading activity and how consistently participants remain involved throughout the event, rather than only what happens in the opening days.

Just as important is the quality of that engagement. Are people returning to follow the leaderboards? Are teams staying active? Are participants engaging with mechanics such as Fuel, Nitro, and Octane? Those indicators tell us whether the tournament is working as an experience, not simply as an incentive campaign.

We will also look at community feedback, geographic reach, and how TIFT compares with previous editions. Last year attracted more than 100,000 participants, so naturally we want to continue building on that momentum.

The strongest measure of success, though, is whether traders see TIFT as an event worth returning to. A large headline number is valuable, but building something the community anticipates each year tells us much more about the tournament’s long-term strength.

Q12
Looking beyond TIFT 2026, does Toobit see gamified trading competitions becoming a larger part of the platform's strategy?
coingape

We see gamification as a useful campaign design tool, but not something that should become a layer on every part of the platform.

For major events like TIFT, mechanics such as progression, team dynamics, and challenges can make the competition easier to follow and give it a stronger sense of momentum. But the underlying trading product still has to come first. Platform reliability, clear functionality, and risk management should never be overshadowed by the game layer.

Looking ahead, we are interested in applying what we learn from TIFT to future campaigns and trading events. Which mechanics actually resonate, which ones sustain engagement, and which ones add genuine value will determine what we carry forward. We are much more interested in learning what works than adding gamification for its own sake.
