Just In: Twitter is Down, Multiple Reports of Tweet Outage

Published by

Social media platform Twitter experienced a major outage today, leaving scores of users around the world unable to access the platform and send tweets.

User’s Tweet Showing ‘Unavailable’

According to a report by Twitter Daily News, which boasts an impressive following of over 161,000 users, numerous individuals have encountered issues with tweets and replies randomly displaying the message “This tweet is unavailable.”

The error message is what shows when users attempt to view a tweet, thus preventing users from replying, hindering communication and engagement on the platform. For users who rely on Twitter for news updates, networking, and interactions, this bug has posed considerable challenges and disruptions.

However, Twitter Daily News acknowledged that a similar bug occurred a few months ago. Although the issue was eventually resolved, its recurrence raises questions about the platform’s ability to maintain a stable user experience over a prolonged period of time.

The situation has sparked outrage in the community, with users venting their irritation and seeking information about the outage on other social media channels. As of now, Twitter has not issued an official announcement on the cause or an estimated time of resolution.

It is worth noting that the news comes only a day after Twitter announced that it was rebranding to X.com

Are Users Being Punished for Copyright Issues?

As users anxiously await a fix, Twitter’s support channels have been flooded with inquiries and complaints. Some users have reported their concerns directly to Twitter’s official account, hoping for a prompt response and resolution.

In a recent development on Twitter, user @drefanzor has voiced frustration and dismay over the mass suspension of a significant number of his followers from the platform.

According to his observations, these suspensions appear to be attributed to alleged “copyright violations” under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), marking a concerning trend that has sparked discussions about copyright enforcement on social media.

The heavy-handedness of DMCA enforcement on Twitter has been a subject of concern for many users. As @drefanzor notes, reposting content from other platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, or YouTube can lead to DMCA suspensions.

Even using a short snippet of copyrighted music in a meme has reportedly resulted in DMCA actions. Users argue that such measures may not consider the context of usage, potentially leading to unwarranted suspensions.
