Beeple, the digital artist whose “First 5000 Days” NFT art bagged $69 million only a couple of weeks ago has sold another of his artwork “Ocean Front” in the form of an NFT for $6 million. Beeple’s latest art auction was done for an environmental cause as all the proceeds of the auction would go towards OpenEarth Foundation to combat climate change.

The auction for the artwork was held on Nifty Gateway and Tron Founder Justin Sun made the highest bid with $6 million to win the ownership of the art. Sun was also among the highest bidders for the famous Beeple auction that fetched $69 million in the final few minutes of the extended auction. Beeple thanked Sun and other participants for making the auction a success and the fact that such a significant amount was raised towards combating climate change.

Justin Sun Trying to Capitalize on NFT Craze?

Justin Sun is quite a controversial personality in the crypto space and is often seen indulging in aggressive PR tactics. Thus, his recent rising interest in bidding for NFT artworks did not take many by surprise. Sun has been known for getting involved with almost anything trending in the market not necessarily limited to crypto space.

Many twitter folks went on to Beeple’s post to comment about Sun’s liking for publicity and how he has spent millions on such stunts instead of using that money for project development and Tron network. One Twitter user wrote,

The NFT craze has hit the mainstream in 2021 which is not just limited to the digital artist and sports fans, TIME Magazine, the prestigious publication launched three exclusive NFT editions of the TIME cover, one of which is titled “Is Fiat Dead?” based on its popular cover “Is God Dead?”

The celebrities and sports league think NFT would be the next big thing in the crypto space akin to Defi growth while many others including the likes of Litecoin Founder Charlie Lee and Bitcoin proponent Max Kieser believe the NFT craze would end badly for many quite similar to ICO era.
