OpenAI’s ChatGPT Ranks No1 in Wikipedia’s Most Read Articles

Published by

In a groundbreaking achievement, OpenAI’s ChatGPT has emerged as the most-read English article on Wikipedia in 2023, with an impressive total of 49.5 million page views. This accolade not only highlights the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) but also underscores the public’s keen interest in interactive and dynamic technologies.

Markin Makes History

Released just over a year ago, ChatGPT quickly gained popularity, amassing over 100 million users within its first year.

The model’s ability to engage users in natural and coherent conversations contributed to its widespread adoption. As users from diverse backgrounds explored ChatGPT’s capabilities, it became a go-to source for information and conversation, securing its place at the pinnacle of Wikipedia’s rankings.

The Wikimedia Foundation revealed that English Wikipedia pages collectively garnered over 84 billion page views in 2023. ChatGPT’s 49.5 million page views surpassed all other topics, including notable events like “Deaths in 2023” and sports-related content such as the “2023 Cricket World Cup” and “Indian Premier League.”

This victory represents a fundamental shift in user interests, as the general public increasingly relies on AI-powered platforms for knowledge and participation. ChatGPT’s number one ranking reflects its extensive use and impact on the digital ecosystem.

ChatGPT to Welcome New Evolution

In September 2023, OpenAI re-introduced a real-time web browsing feature to ChatGPT, enhancing its appeal to both individual and enterprise users. Initially launched in May but temporarily disabled due to concerns over online paywalls, the feature has returned with improved measures to respect website permissions.

Powered by Microsoft’s Bing search engine, the browsing capability transforms ChatGPT from a static data analyzer to a dynamic, real-time information generator. This feature proves particularly valuable for users seeking up-to-date information on topics like market trends, product reviews, or travel planning.

Additionally, ChatGPT now offer Subscribers the ability to create bespoke GPT models, streamlining the user experience for power users and enterprises. This feature eliminates the need for users to manually input extensive prompts, automating the process and enhancing the overall interaction with AI.
