Ripple Partners with Chipper Cash To Boost Cross-Border Payments in Africa

Published by

Ripple has announced a strategic collaboration with Chipper Cash to expand its payment solutions to Africa after securing a win against the US SEC just earlier this week. Through Ripple Payments, the partnership intends to foster cross border payments in the African regions.

Notably, the crypto platform’s alliance with Chipper Cash provides a fast, low-cost, and efficient payment system that unites international markets. Despite the announcement, XRP price trend has remained to be bearish with the token swaying between an intra-day high and low of $2.42 and $2.31. At press time, XRP price was trading at $2.36, a 2.09% decline from the 24 hour high and 38% down from the all-time-high.

Ripple Teams Up with Chipper Cash: Know the Details

In an official blog post published today, Ripple revealed its partnership with payments provider Chipper Cash. The crypto platform’s new venture focuses on supporting cross-border payments into Africa using Ripple Payments.

Leveraging the potential of blockchain technology, the companies aim to bring faster, easier, and productive payment system. As pointed out by Reece Merrick, Managing Director of Ripple Africa, the partnership plays a key role in the platform’s expansion in Africa.  Merric further commented,

By integrating our technology into Chipper Cash’s platform, we’re enabling faster, more affordable cross-border payments while driving economic growth and innovation across the markets they serve. With over a decade of experience in tokenizing real-world assets, Ripple’s journey began by bringing fiat currencies on-chain to simplify international money transfers.

Ripple Expands to Africa for Crypto Payments

Significantly, Ripple marked its entry into Africa in 2023 through a partnership with Onafriq. Now, the company is further expanding its presence on the continent with Chipper Cash.

According to Reece Merrick, the growing demand for cross-border payments worldwide is driving companies like Chipper Cash to adopt crypto payments, thereby boosting efficiency and fostering innovation.

Acknowledging the potential of crypto-enabled payments, Ham Serunjogi, Co-Founder and CEO at Chipper Cash, highlighted the significance of its alliance with Ripple. The Chipper Cash founder cited, “Through integrating with Ripple’s global payments network, we are excited to be able to harness the transformative potential of blockchain technology to enable consumers to receive payments faster and at lower cost.”

In a recent development, Ripple joined hands with Unicambio, Portugal’s leading currency exchange provider for cross-border payments. This move aligns with the platform’s vision of global expansion.

XRP Lawsuit Settlement Opens Doors To New Collaborations

With the protracted XRP lawsuit now resolved, as Ripple withdraws its cross-appeal in response to the SEC’s dropped appeal, the stage is set for new partnerships and collaborations. All Things XRP, a prominent member of the Ripple community, shared insights on the possible outcomes of the XRP case conclusion, which included future partnerships.

The lawsuit update also opens door to the possible launch of XRP exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The US SEC has already acknowledged the ETF applications submitted by multiple asset managers. Now, the lawsuit outcome could potentially clear the way for the ETF approval.
