Solana’s New Features Power On-Chain Transactions Across The Entire Web

Published by

Solana, a leading blockchain network known for its speed and low transaction costs, has announced a groundbreaking development that promises to revolutionize how users interact with blockchain technology. The network has announced two new features which enable on-chain transactions everywhere on the Internet.

Solana Blinks & Actions

Today, Solana introduced “Blinks” (blockchain links), a new feature designed to bring on-chain transactions to every corner of the internet. Furthermore, this revolutionary feature transforms on-chain actions into shareable links. Moreover, it aims to simplify the process of using blockchain technology in everyday internet activities.

Blinks enable users to initiate Solana transactions from any website or app where a link can be shared. This means that activities such as voting, donating, minting NFTs, swapping tokens, and making payments can now be performed seamlessly within social media platforms. Additionally, these Blinks can be shared on messaging apps, and other online spaces.

Solana emphasized this in their announcement, stating, “Anywhere you can share a link on the internet, you can initiate Solana actions (even on X!).” This integration is made possible through Solana Actions, a set of APIs that return Solana transactions. Furthermore, these APIs allow for transactions to be signed and sent using native app and mobile buttons, scannable QR codes, and shareable blinks.

In addition, the network highlighted the simplicity and security of this new feature, making it accessible to a broad audience. The development of Blinks and Actions features was made possible through collaboration with Dialect, a protocol and developer stack.

Dialect played a crucial role in creating the new specification and powering the Actions for various prominent Solana projects, including Phantom, Backpack, and Jupiter. Solana expressed gratitude for Dialect’s contribution, saying, “Massive thanks to Dialect for playing a key role in developing this new spec.”

Furthermore, Phantom, a popular crypto wallet, was quick to embrace the new features. In their response to the announcement, Phantom stated, “Solana Actions and Blinks are smooth as butter with Phantom. Make on-chain transactions without leaving your 𝕏 feed. It’s fast, easy, and secure.”

Phantom allows token swaps on X via Blinks. This underscores the potential of Blinks to enhance user experience by integrating blockchain transactions directly into social media feeds. In addition, the introduction of Blinks is part of Solana’s broader strategy to make blockchain technology more accessible and user-friendly.
