The premium crypto financial services provider’s European subsidiary, Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG, is strengthening its European growth strategy a few weeks after securing its MiCA CASP Licence.
It has appointed Ammy Edberg as General Manager for Sweden and the Nordics. This puts a fresh focus on one of Europe’s increasingly mature digital asset markets.
Edberg will lead the company’s efforts across Sweden and the wider Nordic region. This is alongside Kristoffer Nystrom who has also been appointed as the General Manager for the Nordics region.
The appointment comes as the region’s institutional participation in crypto continues to grow. Professional investors in Europe are increasingly looking for regulated and secure ways to access digital assets.
Bitcoin Suisse has operated in the digital asset market since 2013, building its business around financial services for crypto and blockchain-based assets.
The company works with institutional investors, asset managers, banks, family offices, external asset managers and high-net-worth individuals. It provides services across digital asset trading, custody, staking, and other financial solutions, making the regional entry a significant move.
Who is Ammy Edberg, Bitcoin Suisse’s General Manager
The Nordic region is becoming increasingly relevant for digital assets as professional investors move toward more regulated and institutional forms of crypto exposure.
For Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG, this creates an opportunity to establish local relationships while bringing its existing trading, custody and other digital asset capabilities to the market.
Interestingly, Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG’s new Nordic General Manager Ammy Edberg brings established experience in the Nordic digital asset market to the role.
Before joining Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG, she had already been closely involved with Sweden’s crypto ecosystem. This is through dialogues with the Swedish Tax Agency, private Bitcoin conversations with the Swedish Parliament, close engagement with institutions, and her role as a board member of the Swedish Bitcoin Association.
Her existing relationships across the market give her a strong local foundation as Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG looks to deepen its position in Sweden and the wider Nordic region.
“My immediate priority is to establish Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG as a trusted partner in Sweden and across the Nordics by building long-term relationships with private and institutional clients,” Edberg told Block of Fame.
“My focus is on helping clients access digital assets through secure, compliant and professional solutions, while strengthening Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG’s position in the Nordic market.”
This comes as the Nordic opportunity is increasingly moving beyond retail crypto adoption. Sweden is already one of the world’s most active markets for crypto exchange-traded products, with Nasdaq Stockholm pointing to growing institutional interest in digital assets.
The broader market is also expanding. The 2026 Nordic Crypto Adoption Report estimates that 2.5 million adults across the region now own crypto, up 326,000 from the previous year. Sweden alone has around 1.135 million crypto owners, with 13.4% of the population holding digital assets.
For institutional providers such as Bitcoin Suisse, the opportunity is therefore more about serving a market’s institutional clients that is becoming increasingly familiar with digital assets. This puts institutional and private client relationships at the center of Bitcoin Suisse’s Nordic strategy. Edberg will be looking to build those relationships.
“What excites me most is the growing maturity of the Nordic digital asset market,” she said.
“We’re seeing increasing interest from professional investors who are looking for trusted and regulated ways to engage with digital assets.”
Edberg believes Bitcoin Suisse (Europe) AG is well positioned to support that demand through the experience and expertise the company has developed over the past decade.
Nordic Expansion Fits Wider European Strategy
The appointment also comes as Bitcoin Suisse continues to build its international footprint.
The company has been expanding its regulated operations across key financial markets, including its presence in Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM).
The company recently expanded its regulated international footprint. Bitcoin Suisse (Middle East) Ltd. received Financial Services Permission (FSP) from the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), allowing it to provide regulated financial services in the financial centre.
Its wider expansion strategy is focused on reaching pools of institutional capital, including family offices, banks, asset managers and other professional investors, while providing access to regulated digital asset services.
In Europe, the company is also developing its operations under the region’s evolving regulatory framework, including the implementation of its MiCA-related European strategy.
The Nordic push therefore adds another market to a broader expansion effort. It also adds another competitor in the growing European crypto firms after many leading crypto firms cease to operate after MiCA.
