In recent years, global consumers have shown significant interest in the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, witnessing various developments and advancements within the sector. Meanwhile, a leading player in the industry, OpenAI has caught eyes of the investors with its CTO, Mira Murati announcing significant developments about the platform.
Meanwhile, OpenAI is making significant strides in AI content detection. Notably, the company’s CTO, Mira Murati, announced a groundbreaking tool with 99% reliability in determining if an image was created using artificial intelligence.
This advancement marks a significant step in the ongoing battle against manipulated and fabricated content generated by AI. The tool is currently undergoing internal testing, and OpenAI plans for a public release shortly, according to a report by Bloomberg.
OpenAI, the organization behind popular AI models like ChatGPT and DALL-E, is at the forefront of developing a highly accurate tool for detecting AI-generated images. According to Mira Murati, this tool has achieved a remarkable 99% reliability rate.
Meanwhile, the software is currently undergoing internal testing and is poised for a public release, although a specific timeline has not been provided.
The emergence of AI technology has brought about a pressing need for reliable detection tools, as AI can be exploited to manipulate and produce fabricated content. So, detecting the authenticity of such content is paramount in maintaining trust and credibility in the digital age.
However, there are some image detection tools already in existence. But they often lack precision, making OpenAI’s 99% accuracy achievement a noteworthy development in the fight against AI-generated misinformation.

Bloomberg said that OpenAI also dropped hints about its future AI models. Although the organization hasn’t officially revealed the successor to GPT-4, they have applied for a “GPT-5” trademark with the US Patent and Trademark Office. The potential introduction of GPT-5 demonstrates OpenAI’s continuous commitment to advancing AI capabilities.
Meanwhile, AI models, including ChatGPT, have faced issues related to hallucination, where they generate false or fictional information. While GPT-4 has made substantial progress in addressing this problem, Mira Murati mentioned that OpenAI is still working towards a comprehensive solution.
Notably, the development of GPT-5 is expected to further refine AI models, potentially reducing instances of hallucination.
Meanwhile, in other developments, OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, touched on the possibility of the organization designing and manufacturing its own computer chips for AI model training and operations. While he acknowledged that the default approach is not to create custom hardware and instead use existing solutions like those from Nvidia, he didn’t rule out the possibility.
Meanwhile, the latest hints from Sam Altman also suggest OpenAI’s openness to innovation and adaptability in its quest to advance AI technology.
