Elon Musk Mocks Sam Altman And Greg Brockman After Microsoft Hires Them

Published by

OpenAI’s interim chief executive officer Mira Murati has planned to bring back ousted Sam Altman and former President Greg Brockman in a capacity. However, the decision was turned down by the board and they appointed Emmett Shear, co-founder of video streaming site Twitch, to take over as interim CEO. Elon Musk mocks Altman and Brockman after Microsoft hires them, saying that now they have to use Microsoft Teams.

Mira Murati Aimed To Bring Back Sam Altman And Greg Brockman

According to people with direct knowledge of the matter, Mira Murati aimed to rehire Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, reported Bloomberg on November 20. Murati, named interim CEO on Friday, was negotiating with Adam D’Angelo, the CEO of Quora Inc., acting representative of the OpenAI board. The negotiations are private and remain fluid.

After the board fired Sam Altman, Greg Brockman quit the board due to disagreement with the board members. Other employees of the firm also quit in protest of Altman’s exit. The OpenAI board has faced a lot of criticism from the tech community and the company’s investors over its decision to remove Altman as CEO.

Meanwhile, interim CEO Mira Murati invited Sam Altman and Greg Brockman to join executives at the company’s San Francisco headquarters on Sunday.

Later, Microsoft officially hired OpenAI’s ex-CEO Sam Altman and ex-president Greg Brockman to lead a new advanced artificial intelligence (AI) research team.

Elon Musk Jokes at New Hiring

Amid negotiations to rehire Altman and Brockman, the board hired Emmett Shear as new interim CEO for OpenAI. However, Microsoft said to join the OpenAI board only if Altman is back at the firm.

Elon Musk replied to Microsoft appointing Sam Altman and Greg Brockman, saying “Now they will have to use Teams!”. It comes after X users also asked Microsoft to ask OpenAI to use Microsoft Meet instead of Google Meet.
