A look at the eBay marketplace reveals that users may still get a hold of the phones, provided they can pay a premium price for it. One of the highest price quotes for the phone with a 512 GB memory space is $2499. This price represents a massive 316.5% growth from the initial price quote of $600.
For the same phone, the price rose as high as $3,361 on eBay, showcasing the massive differentials in how interested buyers can get a hold of the device at the moment. While Solana Mobile has not revealed whether it has any plans to release a new batch of Solana Mobile, interested users may need to rely on these alternative marketplaces to acquire the phones.
According to Solana co-founder Anatoly Yakovenko, the grand plan for Solana Mobile is to use it to break the dominance of Apple’s app store. He plans to use the strong incentive available to Non-Fungible Token (NFT) enthusiasts and gamers using Saga to create a lasting impression that can encourage developer and user interaction.
With a dedicated client base, more applications can be created to serve these niche users, further creating a diversity that mainstream app creators can leverage in the future.
Already, Solana Mobile, besides the bogus pricing on eBay, is cheaper than the latest high-end Apple iPhone 15 brands, creating a viable option for phone enthusiasts.
