Digital Currency Group (DCG) has officially announced the appointment of Aimie Killeen as its new Chief Legal Officer. This strategic move comes at a crucial time for DCG, as the company seeks to bolster its legal and corporate governance framework.
In her new position at Digital Currency Group, Aimie Killeen adds a strong legal component. After working as the Chief Legal Officer at Billtrust, a software and payments development company, Killeen has considerable expertise in legal operations, mergers and acquisitions, and compliance. She has made a series of important contributions to Billtrust through the development of legal strategies that allowed it to operate in difficult regulatory environments.
Prior to her appointment at Billtrust, Killeen also worked with Ashurst, an Australian law firm, where she spent nine years as a senior associate. After her time at Ashurst, she was the global general counsel at DirectCash, a financial services firm, and then an executive vice president at CardTronics when it acquired DirectCash Payments.
Her wide-ranging cross-sector experience and international market exposure make Andrea perfectly suited to the multiple legal challenges at DCG.
Aimie Killeen’s appointment represents one of the steps taken by DCG to bolster its leadership team in order to have stable governance in the rapidly changing digital currencies arena. DCG has come under a number of legal disputes, especially after the bankruptcy filing of its subsidiary, Genesis, in January 2023.
The situation called for a sound legal framework to deal with the aftermath and to make arrangements with creditors and partners once the issues have been sorted out.
DCG Founder and CEO Barry Silbert put his trust in Killeen’s competence, stating that,
“With her huge experience and global vision, Aimie will be a critical ally in helping us to achieve our strategic goals to propel our company forward.”
Such an evaluation points out the significance of Killeen’s role in solving not only the current legal problems but also in facilitating DCG’s future growth
As of May 1, Killeen is to manage the group’s global legal operations in the field of enhancing the firm’s ability to handle international legal matters and demands. Her knowledge will be extremely important for DCG in dealing with difficulties in the regulatory environment in different jurisdictions, which is an essential part of DCG’s current projects and future projects.
In addition, her duty will include substantial inputs to DCG’s mergers and acquisitions strategy, making sure that all processes conform to international legal norms and corporate governance good practices. This will probably require liaising with a few parties to protect and maximize DCG interests in different international markets.
