Bitget Joins UNICEF Game Changers Coalition to Enhance Blockchain Literacy Across 9 Countries

Highlights

  • Bitget partners with UNICEF to promote blockchain education for girls in nine countries.
  • Bitget Academy to develop UNICEF’s first blockchain training module.
  • Goal: reach 1.1 million girls by 2027 under the Blockchain4Her initiative.

Bitget, the world’s sixth biggest cryptocurrency spot exchange by trading volume, has once again made the news, and this time it is for entering a partnership with UNICEF Luxembourg.

The goal of this partnership is to help advance digital and blockchain literacy among girls.

The official announcement was made through the website. It showed that this partnership has essentially enrolled Bitget into the Game Changers Innovation initiative.

Led by UNICEF’s Office of Innovation, Game Changers Coalition’s goal is to help blockchain education reach over 300,000 people, including adolescent girls, parents, mentors, and teachers, across eight countries.

Digital Skills are a Powerful Driver of Opportunity and Inclusion – Executive Director of UNICEF

Speaking of this partnership, which involves Bitget Academy, the educational arm of Bitget, Sandra Visscher, Executive Director of UNICEF Luxembourg, said that this partnership reflects how powerful digital skills are when it comes to opportunity and inclusion.

“By collaborating with Bitget, we want to provide adolescents and young people with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to shape their own futures,” the UNICEF Director added.

She further emphasized that innovation should be considered a force of inclusion, broadening horizons so that technology is accessible and works for everyone.

Developing the Online Training Module with UNICEF

Per the terms of this partnership, Bitget Academy will work with UNICEF to develop the international body’s first interactive, online and in-person blockchain trading module. These will be based on video game creation skills development for maximum engagement. One goal is also to expand the Coalition’s reach to a ninth country, which is yet to be named.

In addition to the tools, Bitget is also set to increase the ecosystem’s reach through partnerships with leading blockchain protocols and developers to participate in this education initiative.

“Emerging technologies should not be reserved to the privileged few,” said Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget. “Such technologies should be introduced early and equitably.”

She added, “Blockchain, with its real-world use case and potential for social good, is one of the most powerful tools we can give to our younger generation to build products that change the way we look at modern society. With Blockchain4Her, what began as a mission to empower hundreds of women has scaled into a global movement to educate thousands of girls. This is the kind of scale and impact blockchain was built for.”

Game Changers Coalition is UNICEF’s Office of Innovation that, according to the mission statement given on the official website, focuses on equipping young girls around the world with 21st-century skills they need and want, to be the designers of a more inclusive, diverse, and secure digital future.

With Bitget and UNICEF’s partnership, the goal is now to build a scalable and inclusive model to help them understand the ins and outs of the modern digital ecosystem.

The announcement has also highlighted that Bitget’s partnership with the Game Changers Coalition also makes it a partner of the Global Video Game Coalition, Micron Foundation, and ecosystem builders. With this, the goal is to reach 1.1 million girls by 2027 and provide them with learning and skill-building opportunities.

Bitget is also focusing on furthering its plans of enhancing digital literacy and financial independence among women, thanks to support from the $10 million initiative Blockchain4Her.

Summary

Bitget’s partnership with UNICEF highlights the growing cryptocurrency economy and the need to make the technology more inclusive. The initiative is not the first by the leading Web3 company, and from the mission statement, it is certain that it won’t be the last.

Previously, partnerships included Bitget’s collaborations with the UN World Food Programme and the UN Refugee Agency. While those efforts were altruistic, the latest initiative is more aligned with pushing the world toward a decentralized future.

Now, eyes are on the future to assess the tangible impact of this initiative.
