Lightspark has launched a new Cards Playground in a major step towards launching stablecoin issuance platform. With the first step, it will be giving fintechs and developers a visual environment to design and test card programs.
Lightspark CEO David Marcus announced the launch on X, describing the platform as another step toward building a stablecoin-backed card issuance platform with Visa.
The new Playground allows users to experiment with the different components of a card program. This includes card issuance, wallet management, spending controls, refunds and transaction flows. It also exposes the underlying API activity, giving developers a view of how the card infrastructure works behind the interface.
The move comes as stablecoin-linked cards are becoming a larger part of the traditional payments ecosystem.

Lightspark to Launch Stablecoin Issuance Platform Soon
Lightspark has been expanding its card infrastructure through its partnership with Visa.
In April 2026, Lightspark and Visa announced plans to enable stablecoin- and Bitcoin-backed Visa debit cards across more than 100 countries. The rollout was aimed at businesses and fintechs looking to provide card-based access to digital asset balances.
The company later partnered with Lithic to power its Visa card program, with Lead Bank issuing the cards. The infrastructure uses USDC for settlement, while Lightspark handles stablecoin balances and their conversion into local currency when users make purchases.
The new Cards Playground now gives developers a more direct way to interact with this infrastructure.
The card launch also fits into Lightspark’s longer-term stablecoin strategy.
The company announced its plans for a stablecoin issuance platform in 2024 alongside Spark, its Bitcoin Layer 2 network. Lightspark said the platform would allow issuers to bring stablecoins to Bitcoin, while also planning wallet infrastructure for businesses.
Its current platform has expanded beyond that initial roadmap, covering stablecoin issuance, accounts, cards and payments.
This puts Lightspark in a broader race to make stablecoins usable as financial infrastructure rather than limiting them to crypto trading or transfers.
