About the Role
Own the reader experience and growth of our news website: article & hub templates, site performance, recirculation, SEO/Discover, and monetization hygiene. You will partner with Editorial, SEO, AdOps, Design, and Engineering to ship fast, reliable, and compliant experiences for breaking news and evergreen coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate with different stakeholders (founders, tech, SEO, marketing) to define, prioritize, and manage the website roadmap and feature set.
 
- Explicitly owns Google News / Publisher Center, news-sitemap health, structured data (NewsArticle, LiveBlogPosting, VideoObject, etc.), indexation/canonical strategy, Top Stories & Discover best practices, and E-E-A-T signals.
 
- Analyze and improve performance metrics: DAU, MAU, bounce rate, engagement, etc.
 
- Improve Google Discover visibility/clicks, sessions passing CWV, newsletter subscriptions.
 
- Ensure seamless user experience across web and mobile.
 
- Ensure AMP is optimized for performance.
 
- Define performance KPIs for Tech and SEOs like Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) to drive improvements.
 
- Coordinate with Sales & Marketing to discover new ad inventories. Must have awareness of ad tech (Google Ad Manager, header bidding), ensuring compliance with viewability and ad density standards.
 
- Coordinate with SEOs to brainstorm strategies to improve visibility in SERP and AI.
 
- Identify AI integration avenues in the website for maximum user engagement and improved time on site.
 
- Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify trends, opportunities, and new product ideas.
 
- Evaluate feasibility and potential impact of new product initiatives.
 
- Collaborate with content and marketing teams to align editorial strategy with product goals.
 
- Create and manage scrum boards, write user stories, and define product features.
 
- Work closely with engineering and design teams for smooth execution and deployment.
 
- Drive iterations based on performance metrics, feedback, and testing (VWO or Optimizely for A/B experiments).
 
- Clearly document and communicate product requirements and changes.
 
- Ensure copyright/DMCA, privacy/consent frameworks, and UGC moderation practices are in place.
 
Skills & Qualifications
- 3–4 years of experience as a Product Manager / Associate PM / Digital Product Owner.
 
- Strong understanding of web products, with exposure to apps and social media platforms.
 
- Hands-on experience with WordPress (must-have).
 
- Good knowledge of SEO concepts, structured data, and indexation strategies.
 
- Technical clarity to collaborate with engineering teams effectively.
 
- Proficiency in research, data gathering, and competitive analysis.
 
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
 
- Ability to work in an agile/scrum environment.
 
- Exposure to tools such as GA4 (real-time), Looker Studio, Search Console, Mixpanel.
 
Good to Have
- Experience in media, tech, or digital-first companies.
 
- Familiarity with metrics like engaged time, scroll depth, homepage CTR, return frequency, newsletter sign-ups, indexation rate, and CWV pass-rate.
 
- Understanding of user engagement metrics and growth strategies.
