Born in 1924, Charlie Munger has been associated with Warren Buffett’s family in the past. He spent a part of his teenage years working at Buffett & Son, a grocery store with its ownership in the hands of Warren’s grandfather.

A few years down the line, during World War II, Munger was admitted to the University of Michigan. This is where he enhanced his knowledge of mathematics. However, dropped out of college in 1943. Following this, he was admitted to the U.S. Army Air Corps. During this time, he was trained in meteorology and later was adorned with a promotion to become second lieutenant. Later on, he continued to enhance his knowledge of the science of meteorology at Caltech in Pasadena, California.

After getting an undergraduate degree, he earned a degree in Law from Harvard Law School in 1948. As a real estate attorney, Charlie founded Munger, Tolles & Olson, a renowned law firm in California. 

Munger’s life transformed after he transitioned from law to finance. His journey in the world of finance began at a dinner meeting in Omaha in 1959. This was the place where he met Warren Buffet and, over the years, began building his investment firm as a real estate attorney.

Things escalated after Munger gave up life as a law practitioner on Buffett’s advice. This end marked the beginning of his time managing investments. He also ran his investment firm before becoming a part of Berkshire.
