In an announcement this Tuesday, KuCoin Global, a leading crypto exchange with over 40 million customers, announced its investment in Australia, opening new offices in Sydney and welcoming James Pinch as Managing Director.
In what has been an expansive year for KuCoin Global, the new Australian offices open the exchange’s services to more users in the region, increasing overall global crypto adoption.
The latest move into Australia was accompanied by a first-of-its-kind sponsorship of the Australian Crypto Convention 2025 (ACC) and a major marketing campaign featuring Australian golf icon Adam Scott.
The expansion into Australia was followed by an announcement of James Pinch as the Australian Managing Director, the establishment of a local headquarters in Sydney, and the formation of a leadership team for its expanding Australian operations.
The new offices, situated at the heart of the Sydney CBD, will serve as the local hub for Australia to grow its user base and provide compliant crypto services nationwide. The new offices will also create employment opportunities for locals across multi-faceted roles across 2026 and beyond, the team statement reads.
James was selected to lead the expansion role due to his extensive experience in finance, risk, compliance, and legal. He has previously worked in roles and grown companies in traditional finance, as well as crypto exchanges such as OKX (a global crypto exchange). With the leadership team selected and well-versed in the Australian financial sector, KuCoin aims to capture a significant share of the country’s crypto population.
In addition, James has founded and scaled multiple disruptor businesses in the trading, brokerage, and fintech sectors, each built on efficiency and transparency. On his selection to lead the expansion down south, Pinch stated:
“Investors down under are serious about digital assets, and the industry is projected to continue to grow in the coming year by almost 20% to a projected total revenue of US$1.2bn by 2026. In return, they need transparency, stability, and innovation – exactly what KuCoin provides. With our commitment to robust local engagement and top-tier security, we’re here to support the next generation of Australian investors.”
KuCoin has been a presence in Australia for years, with 360,000 Australians currently using the KuCoin Global exchange. The opening of its Australian branch shows the xchange’s commitment to grow its business in the region, reinforcing its dedication to local users, ensuring regulatory alignment, and institutional-grade security.
BC Wong, Global CEO of KuCoin, said this on the opening of KuCoin and the appointment of James Pinch:
“The appointment of James Pinch and our new Australian leadership team is a key element of our strategy and a clear signal of how serious we are about this market. We are one of the most innovative exchanges offering retail derivatives to Australian customers. We are dedicated to delivering a regulated, connected, and converging future for digital and traditional finance to Australian customers.”
In addition, BC Wong also attended the Australian Crypto Convention (ACC) 2025, in line with opening new marketing operations in the country. KuCoin was a leading sponsor at the convention, marking its first time as an exchange, connecting directly with the community and supporting the industry’s professional growth.
Finally, KuCoin recently announced a partnership with professional golfer, Masters champion, and Australian icon Adam Scott. In a nationwide campaign themed “Integrity First. Trading on KuCoin Next”, Adam Scott will help grow the trust of the exchange across the continent, enhancing stability and reliability for KuCoin.
“I’ve been following the crypto space for several years and have been impressed by KuCoin’s commitment to security and transparency,” said Adam. “As someone who values precision, discipline, and long-term thinking, I see these same qualities in how KuCoin approaches the market. I’m proud to partner with a platform that’s raising the bar for the entire industry, and I’m looking forward to engaging with the Australian crypto community through this partnership.”
Scott will use the KuCoin-branded golf bag at this year’s Australian golf tournaments, including the Australian Open at Royal Melbourne in December and the Australian PGA Championship, and throughout the 2026 season.
