Microsoft Inks Partnership to Bring AI Characters to XBox
The Microsoft AI agenda is taking a huge twist for the better as the tech giant has struck a deal with Inworld AI to enable Xbox developers to leverage the new technology for game development.
Microsoft AI Push With Inworld: What to Expect
According to a report from The Verge, this new deal will facilitate the development of AI-powered characters, stories, detailed scripts, dialogue trees, and quest lines amongst many other innovations, through an AI design copilot and an AI character engine.
Haiyan Zhang, General Manager of Gaming AI at Xbox is positive that developers can roll out better content with the provision of better tools.
“Together, we aim to deliver an accessible, responsibly designed multi-platform AI toolset to assist and empower creators in dialogue, story, and quest design. As with all creator tools at Xbox, our goal is to deliver state-of-the-art AI for game developers of any size, anywhere in the world, and on every platform where players want to play,” Zhang noted.
He revealed that Inworld AI will bring onboard its expertise and showmanship in terms of leveraging generative AI models for character development.
On the other hand, Microsoft will offer some of its cutting-edge cloud-based AI solutions including Azure OpenAI Service. At the same time, “Microsoft Research’s technical insights into the future of play, and Team Xbox’s strengths in revolutionizing accessible and responsible creator tools for all developers” will be introduced.
New Dawn for Microsoft Ecosystem Developers
Notably, the Inworld-powered Microsoft AI agenda through the former’s engine is not a new term in the gaming ecosystem as some veterans have confirmed its functionalities. The top modder known as Bloc claimed that he had previously utilized the Inworld Character Engine tool to create the AI-powered GTA 5 story mod Sentient Streets before Take-Two shut it down.
Noteworthy, the entire goal of the Microsoft-Inworld AI alliance is to make building easier for developers. It allows them to try their hands on new ideas and push against numerous boundaries and limitations on their paths.
So far, Microsoft has been putting so much resources and effort into the field of AI. It recently partnered with Siemens to introduce the Siemens Industrial Copilot. This Copilot is deemed revolutionary with the target billed for the professional services sector.
This is in addition to the recent launch of the Microsoft AI Chip, codenamed Athena. While in its infancy, Athena is being developed to enable the tech giant reduce its reliance on NVIDIA’s chips.
Microsoft AI foray is specialized with the long plan of competing with dominant players like ChatGPT’s parent company OpenAI, which is also looking to introduce its AI Chips and acquire an AI chip manufacturing company.
