Eyenovia, a digital eye care company, is making a bold shift. It just announced a $50 million private investment from institutional investors. The funds will go toward building a cryptocurrency treasury focused on the HYPE token, native to the Hyperliquid blockchain.
According to the company’s official statement, this move makes Eyenovia, listed on NASDAQ as EYEN, is the first publicly listed U.S. company to hold HYPE in its treasury. The company also plans to rebrand as Hyperion DeFi, changing its ticker symbol to HYPD.
Alongside this strategy shift, Hyunsu Jung has joined as Chief Investment Officer and a board member. The company will issue convertible preferred stock and warrants as part of the investment deal.
If all warrants are exercised, the digital eye firm could raise up to $150 million in total. This is subject to various investor conditions. Eyenovia intends to acquire over one million HYPE tokens. That will make it one of the largest validators on the Hyperliquid blockchain.
It also plans to stake HYPE tokens to earn yields and secure the assets with Anchorage Digital. The company expects the deal to close around June 20, 2025. It is not offering the securities to the public. A separate registration process with the SEC will cover potential future share sales.
CEO Michael Rowe described the move as part of a strategy for diversification and long-term growth. Hyunsu Jung sees Hyperliquid’s native token as one of the most advanced digital assets available. He also emphasized Hyperliquid’s high revenue and fast growth.
The company will continue its main business in eye health. It is developing the next generation of its Optejet dispenser and hopes to register it with the FDA by September 2025. This marks a bold pivot for a biotech company. Eyenovia is now blending eye care innovation with digital asset finance.
HYPE, the token at the center of this shift, is used on Hyperliquid’s Layer-1 blockchain. It supports trading in a non-custodial way using the HyperBFT consensus model. Within the last hour, there hasn’t been any significant change in the token’s price.
While the token currently trades at $41.17, HYPE recently hit an all-time high of $44.75.
