A recent report naming XRP as the “smartest cryptocurrency to buy with $500 right now” has led to debate about the token’s growth potential. A prominent crypto investor weighed in, aiming at the SEC and its allies for their role in trying to derail Ripple.
Crypto investor Rob Cunningham slammed the SEC, JPMorgan officials, and other bodies for their efforts to kill Ripple’s efforts to become mainstream. This came after the USA Report named the altcoin the best $500 investment in crypto right now
In a detailed analysis, USA Report explored why XRP could be a compelling long-term investment, especially after years of legal headwinds. The report points to the GENIUS Act, signed into law under President Trump, which created a clear framework for dollar-pegged stablecoins. According to the publication, this marks a significant shift from the previous administration’s crackdown on crypto and brings fresh legitimacy to the entire sector.
What sets XRP apart, according to USA Today’s analysis, is its focus on solving practical issues in cross-border payments rather than building speculative decentralized apps (dApps). With extremely low transaction fees (0.00001 XRP) and speed, XRP helps users transfer money internationally without depending on slow, traditional intermediaries.
The report also highlighted that Ripple’s launch of RLUSD, its dollar-backed stablecoin, gives the ecosystem an edge. The stablecoin has been named a top contender for Bank of America’s stablecoin plans. This further backs the altcoin’s high utility.
The new USA Report analysis led to debate among analysts and investors in the cryptocurrency space. This comes after already bullish sentiment around XRP due to its recent milestones.
A crypto influencer pointed out the math of how much investors can make by following this buy signal. They shared that a $500 investment today would buy roughly 173 XRP at $2.89. If XRP were to hit $100 by 2030, that could mean over $17,000 in returns. In contrast, he noted that putting the same $500 into Bitcoin at around $114,000 would only buy about 0.0043 BTC, which would grow to around $2,100 if Bitcoin hits $500,000.
Good Morning Crypto also highlighted XRP’s focus on real utility, contrasting it with tokens that rely on speculative dApp ecosystems. Even Digital Asset Investor noted the significance of mainstream coverage, hinting that broader public awareness could drive more adoption.
In fresh developments, the SEC recently opened public comments on Grayscale’s Digital Large Cap Fund (which holds nearly 6% XRP) and the Bitwise Crypto Index Fund, which also includes XRP. The deadline for comments is set for August 22, suggesting that approval for the first spot XRP ETF could arrive soon after. This could bring fresh institutional demand into XRP, boosting its growth potential.
